Preparing for Your Surgery
For Patients That Live in the Area
We understand that undergoing surgery can feel overwhelming, which is why we strive to streamline the process and alleviate any concerns for our patients. As part of our comprehensive care approach, we take care of everything related to your medical clearance, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish. Here’s what you can expect:
Step 1: Pre-Operative Appointment
Approximately 3 to 4 weeks before the scheduled surgery date, patients will have an in-person pre-operative appointment with Dr. Afrooz and our nurse. During this appointment, we will:
- Review medical history
- Provide instructions for pre and post-operative care
- Answer any questions or concerns
- Take photos in preparation for surgery
- Provide the necessary prescriptions
Step 2: Medical Tests and Clearance
In conjunction with the pre-operative appointment, patients will be scheduled for medical tests and clearance at one of our partner facilities on the same day. These tests typically include labs, an EKG, and occasionally a chest x-ray. By completing all necessary tests early, we ensure ample time to address the results and make adjustments to the surgical plan if needed.
From the moment you schedule your surgical procedure with us, we'll guide you through every step of the way. Our team will provide detailed instructions and ensure you have all the information you need for a successful experience.
For Out-of-Town Patients
Out of town patients are required to arrange an appointment with their primary care physician or nearby urgent care facility to complete all necessary medical tests and obtain clearance. We strongly recommend scheduling this appointment 3 to 4 weeks before the scheduled surgery date to allow for adequate time to obtain the required documentation. It is imperative that our office receives all clearance documentation no later than 14 days prior to the surgery date.
