A lower blepharoplasty can be performed as a standalone procedure, or in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery, a facelift, or other facial procedure. This surgery is performed to address aesthetic issues on and around the lower eyelids.
What is the recovery time after lower lid blepharoplasty?
The recovery from this delicate surgery is usually uneventful. It is normal to experience swelling and bruising, which may take up to three weeks to fully disappear. Most people recover quickly and return to their usual activities within about ten days to two weeks, or less.
During your recovery, ensure your eyes are protected from direct sun, take all prescriptions as directed, and take all the time you need to rest and heal. Eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water or other hydrating liquids, and rest your eyes as much as possible, without spending too much time watching TV or other activities that could strain the eyes. As an alternative, listen to podcasts or audiobooks. The more you rest your eyes during the early phase of healing, the better.
